OUR STORY

OmniMAX Aerospace

OmniMAX has been built around the concept and understanding the need to bolster the defense industrial base, primarily in the rapid turn-around, and super alloy market segment. We UNDERSTAND manufacturing, because we ARE manufacturing – delivery deadlines, quality requirements, and internal production schedules. We strive to provide a service that alleviates concerns in all three phases. If you’ve been around any amount of time, you’ve heard of the manufacturing triangle – Speed, Quality, Price – you can pick two. Our primary focus is in Speed and Quality, we may not always be the cheapest, but we’re hard to beat in speed and quality. We want to be a partner all around, so we’re nimble enough to remain open to production opportunities where price may be more of a factor.

Kirk Phelps, our President, has worked in every function of a machine shop, from band saw, to manual machinist, CNC machinist, CNC Programmer, QA Inspector, Manufacturing Engineer, Operations Manager, General Manager, to now owner. Kirk absolutely love manufacturing, and am intimately familiar with the entire process. At OmniMAX, we place major emphasis into excellene in our process, but also excellence in our relationships. Whether the relationship is internal with employees, or external with customers/vendors, it is my primary objective to ensure every relationship is positive, growth oriented, and with aligned missions. Ownership has always been a dream of Kirk’s, now that it’s come to reality, the next dream is to build a world class, premier Aerospace & Defense manufacturer. We want customers and vendors to talk amongst themselves and when the name OmniMAX comes up in conversation, they look at each other and say “damn, they’re good”

Leadership

Kirk Phelps President

I’ve been in aerospace manufacturing for 15+ years, filling every role in a machine shop. I am extremely passionate about manufacturing, more importantly watching products I have made travel through the atmosphere, and beyond. I’ve also spent my entire life involved in competitive sports, and a period of my life in the United States Air Force. Teamwork is one of the core principles I am instilling into OmniMAX Aerospace. We will work together as a team internally, and extererally – with customers, and vendors alike. I believe when we all work together to acheive a common goal, there is no challenge too large! I believe that in order to create a dynamic company, it starts with creating a dynamic team, and that is mission number one!

Positioning

Who OmniMax is built to serve

Primarily, space exploration, satellite OEM’s, DoD Primes, and Tier 1 defense contractors. We specialize in rapid prototyping, but can also carry the process from prototype to production.

What makes OmniMax different

One of the core values I learned while in the USAF was the first core value of an American Airman, Service Before Self. That core value is applied directly to our company, we put the needs of the customer above the needs of our own. Some things are going to be challenging or uncomfortable, but they still need to be completed to keep our customer’s manufacturing schedules on track – so while they may not always be easy, the requirements will be met.
We make this claim a reality by employing advanced manufacturing techniques with heavy emphasis on LEAN Mfg/Six Sigma, 6S concepts, and following our rigourous internal AS9100 compliant QMS. Everything we do internally is with the concept that we must prepare the machines to run with zero operator intervention tomorrow. All of our manufacturing is completed with automation in mind, as that is the goal.
We remove a great deal of variability and risk through standardization of programming/manufacturing techniques, workholding/toolholding strategies, and production processes. This risk and variable reduction allows us to manufacture to much more predictable quality objectives and production schedules.

Mission

Provide exemplary manufacturing service and support for all product lines, regardless of application. Extending from Mars (and beyond), to thousands of feet below the ocean’s surface.

Vision

OmniMAX strives to be a trusted, and respected enterprise where customers, suppliers, and employees partner to build the aerospace and defense industry’s most advanced components. Nothing worth doing ever comes easily, and we emobdy that to it’s core.

Core values

People First – A company is nothing without it’s people, especially in MFG. We strive to create a positive work environment, where training/advancement opportunities are abundant. A company where employees WANT to work is a company that will always out-produce it’s competition.

Precision – in everything we do. Precision in our communication, our machining, our inspection, our delivery.

Innovation – the status quo is unacceptable, we will continue to strive for improvements no matter if the standard has been met.

Can-do – Manufacturing is ultimately an engineering field, we don’t use the word “Can’t.” One day, it was widely believed you can’t fly, you can’t go to space, you can’t make an automobile affordable to the common person. Engineering proved all of those things wrong, because of the CAN-DO attitude, and OmniMAX Aerospace embodies that in every phase of our business.

Quality

Quality philosophy

Our company is run very tightly intertwined to our internal QMS. Many companies see a quality system as a box to check, we see it as an operating system. It’s more than a certification, it’s a culture every employee from the Owner to the de-burr technician must embody. We do not aim for mediocrity, we aim for excellence in all we do. Much of this excellence is easily acheived through standardization, we mitigate variables by standardizing various facets of the manufacturing process to enable our ehnaced velocity. Even the standardization is always open for improvement, we are consistently evaluating process improvements, and new technology developments.

Workforce

Workforce & Compliance

Capable, qualified, and dynamic. We strive to have a team of technicians opposed to operators, with overlapping core competencies. If we’re all good at the same thing, we have holes in our process. To build a comprehensive team, we must encourage diversity in experience, background, interests, and culture.
